Actual diagnosed aspy here. By top two books on the subject are “The essential difference” by Simon Baron Cohen and “Reframing your thinking around autism” by Holly Bridges. The books produced by the group Asperger experts are also good but they are self help books for people with Aspergers and not for just learning about the condition. “The Master and His Emissary” by Iain Mcgilchrist isn’t about autism explicitly but it’s frame of right and left brain thinking is very helpful for understanding autistic thought and perspective. It’s also just a very good book in general.
Some other more academic books I would recommend would be the following
>The Neuroscience of Autism Spectrum Disorders (get the 2022 edition if you can)
>the molecular basis of autism
>the polyvagal theory by Stephen Porges
>pic related
