Kept creeping further out to civilization, grabbing furniture I liked or scouting areas closer to the US 31W. Met a couple holed up in one of the trailers by the racing track in Valley Point. They bitched to each other about rumbling bellies while I picked cockroaches out of their bin and yard.

Caught a scratch - a whole group of infected clustered in an adjacent trailer - and got so spooked that I don't think I'll go back for a while.

Lemmy died or left while I was out. I left to check the strip, when I returned there was a dead rat carcass on the ground in my cabin and no rabbit. I have no idea what happened. He might have slipped out the door at some point, but I don't remember ever leaving the cabin door open and I'm not even sure animals can even leave player-preset zones. I assume either he died of starvation without a contrived pen and trough (turning into a rat carcass because of jank) or ran out the door at some point while vermin existed unnoticed/somehow died in there.

Times are hard and lonely. It's only October 20, but snow and cold have set in fast since the month began. Still nothing else on the various traps. Heavy fog for the last few days, I'm nearsighted IRL and even with glasses I can't discern bubbles from water/fog/snow. No fishing, little foraging. Still carrying that fire.
