>Derek Carr Memorial Fact of the Day
The date was October 30th, 2016. Raiders (5-2) vs Buccaneers (3-3) at Raymond James Stadium, in a game which would go down in history as one of the wildest of all time.
No one could've guessed it at half time, as the Bucs held a 10-3 lead, but on this day Derek Carr would go on to break the Raiders' franchise record for most passing yards in a single game.
Daryl Lamonica. George Blanda. Ken Stabler. Jim Plunkett. Jeff Hostetler. Rich Gannon. On this day, they all took a back seat to DC4 and his magical 513-yard performance.
In the 3rd quarter, two Carr TD passes turned a 10-3 deficit into a 17-10 lead. Jameis Winston came back with two TDs of his own in the 4th (he would finish with an uncharacteristic 0 INT, because Raiders' defense), followed by Carr TD number three, and at the end of regulation the two seafaring teams were deadlocked at 24 points apiece.
In the huddle, Carr took charge, promising his teammates, "You give me everything you've got, and I'll give you everything I've got!" And they did. And he did, as the franchise record-holding QB hit Seth Roberts over the middle for a 41-yard catch-and-run TD. 30-24, Raiders. 6-2 at the midway point of the season (they would go on to finish the season 12-4, though an injury to Carr in the penultimate game of the regular season meant there was no hope for them in the playoffs, unfortunately).
