Ukrainians already had VSS and VALs, they used them in Iraq as part of enduring freedom. They just never had a role in the current war since they're not relevant to the conventional fighting; and they've had understandable difficulty getting ammo for them from 2014 onwards; so they've been retired for like a decade.

Categorically disagree, its a boring choice. If the LR300 was as common IRL as it is in stalker, I'm not convinced the 416 would ever have been invented in the first place.

Absolutely. IMO upgrades should have been physical objects you find in the world or as rewards, and as proprietary as possible. The new weapons should have been chosen based on that, and guns with pic rails specifically avoided. That way when you get a particular scope or grip , its special because its only useable on one or two guns particular, and changes the whole way that gun is used. Either that or have the uniques just be completely unique one-off guns, rather than upgraded versions of regular guns.
