Here's the cheat sheet map I'm currently working with. The basic vibes are

>The Monroe Republic takes its name and flag from the Monroe Rebellion where a bunch of political prisoners started a guerilla campaign against the Confederacy after being dissatisfied by Richmond's policies
>The flag represents the bright red banner and blue / white striped prisoner uniforms the initial guerillas wore
>Also the Republic is barely funded enough to survive the constant border skirmishes and other such nonsense, and the Rangers even less so, so the party has ready access to take on 'extracurriculars', which range from raiding a bank carriage in kansas to monster hunts out of the witcher
