the only energy weapons you get from the dlc are the energy cannon at the end of the dlc dungeon, which you'll get to use for maybe 5 screens before the dlc is completed, and gunslingers weapons which you also get at the end of the dlc, otherwise you have to kill him for it and hack the high level lock to use it. the main thing you get out of the dlc is heavy weapons which are really fucking fun. A good grenade launcher build is easy mode against everything that isn't the heavy duty dlc and a good lmg build is easy mode against everything once you get started. High armor lmg tank builds let you clear waves of enemies like nothing else, it feels awesome. I reccomend the dlc just for the heavy weapons build
