But it was at least entertaining when Bob was more Angry Dad than Sad, Doormat Dad. Seeing him get visibly annoyed or outright angry at both the antagonist-of-the-week or even a family member made for some reliable and often times funny conflict.

The writers' decision to soften up the show to be more "family-friendly" shouldn't have meant making Bob such an inactive character.
