White already has a decent amount of ramp. Catch up ramp, but it means you can stay decently close to whoever is in the lead land wise. The creature search is a good option to have. I've been using Ranger of Eos for that for a while now in my mono white so having an option I can use for either a plains or a cheap creature isn't half bad.
