This is the problem with copying OGs main story design but making parts of it skippable, if you're going to do an A to B to C to D story you kind of need to keep that ordering, if a player does part A takes a break and comes back and they're now throw in in to D and the have to back track to do C/B then its just going to come off as nonsensical and broken
its not even that hard of a thing to fix either, they can keep shit skipable for people who don't care about the narrative and just introduce a timeline in game, have a new tab in the adventurer's guide that lists the main story quests in order with a little branch off for major side content like siren isles, OG has a form of this at their inn where you can look at the order of quests and even a fucking maintenance mode game like SWTOR recently added a timeline to their game so you can know where in the main story you are with it, blizzard just hates QoL features
