i just wanted to add:
To further iterate, it is actually within Jewish law that the son-in-law will take over the lineage
This happened multiple times in Chronicles wherein fathers were unable to bear a son but their lineage continued after their sons-in-law took over.
Thus, while Luke says that Joseph is son of Heli, he is really not. He is merely the son-in-law.
This is further emphasized by the fact that Mary is implied to be having a vow of chastity.
Despite being betrothed to Joseph, Mary protested to the angel, saying she had never been with a man. Which implies that she took her vows before being married
And if the husband did not object to her wife's decision, then it is possible to be in a married status while still being a virgin
