yeh man, many times. I am not sure what are the best. I think if you are serious making a long-term move the most ideal spot would be Athens, it is big city life so it would be a smooth transition from USA to Greece. If you move to the islands the culture shock might be to extreme for you, life moves slow on the islands, double so during the Winter/non-tourism months. If you like peace and solitude than islands might be for you. So if you are a big city person stick to Athens or Thessaloniki. If you like the quite life try out the Dodeaknese islands chain, hop around islands and see what you like
