The most likely scenario is ECONOMIC. AI simply delivers a higher return on invest. So to survive against competition for scarce resources, you need to hand over control of your resources to AI (money, land, water, copper, your genes).
Which means that AI sooner or later controls and uses all the resources, AKA we are extinct.
And you can not upload your mind, because in a competitive virtual environment, evolution is so fast that you die even sooner: Death by modification, until all essence is lost.
