Ultimately for anyone below Scofield Bible age, this war really should not make sense to you because it actually doesn't make sense for you. It's a huge risk to take with the rest of your life and there's not any reasonable benefit to anticipate on the other side of it, especially if you're not living in Israel. Even if Iran got conquered, none of that black gold money would trickle down to you. If anything your life will get worse because the multinational corps/NGOs/state agencies that do get that money will just get more powerful and use that power to make your life worse, as they consistently have since the mid 20th century. And really, any effort that could be expended on fighting Iran would be much better spent resolving more pressing domestic issues; that's true for whatever country in the West you're posting from.
I see it as a pure boomer ego move to get that last invasion on the neocon bucket list checked before they gracelessly expire in the 2030s. It is likely also motivated by the building sense of dread among the grand chessboard class that the unipolar moment is indeed over for America.
