Shit game.
First of all I feel like a brainlet because I could never understand how the fuck this game's lategame PvE works.
From what I remember I paid out of my ass for 2 expansions, bought a 3rd expansion, then tried to get started on some nu-dungeons and couldn't because I had to purchase DLC dungeons. Like, micro-transaction dungeons that are not contained in the expansions. And the community is 100% fine with this because 1) they were free at the time of release but new players get fucked in the ass, and 2) you can technically buy them with in-game currency just grind for months goyim :^)
This soured my experience and I gave up on the game. They say that it is a "cheaper game than WoW" and maybe on the long run it is, but the upfront payment for getting access to all the content is way, way higher than WoW.
My other criticism is that class fantasy is awful in this game. If you want to be a caster you can't just "make an elementalist" because you'll end up forced to use melee weapons since staff + scepter is an awful combination. In my experience the abilities that feel good to use rarely match the aesthetics I wanted. Sometimes it's silly but I want my warrior to use a greatsword and yet the hammer skills feel much better, it just annoys me.
But the biggest problem with class fantasy is the fact that you don't build your character skill by skill. You have nearly all abilities unlocked by level ~12 and again they depend on the weapon, most people will max their character without even having the chance to try every ability, it's a clusterfuck. The character progression happens in an awful HUD where you have to cycle through at least 4 different pages of different passives/actives/perks, WoW did it much better by putting all your character progression in one single screen (the talent screen).
Anyway I really wanted to enjoy this game, the quest system is brilliant and there is a lot of good to be said, but the cons severely outweigh the good imo
