Long story short, MJ got magitech superpowers and was her own superhero for a bit. But her luck based magic armband went haywire and quite literally destroyed her at the atomic level. The Venom symbiote happened to be present and in an act of heroism/desperation it bonded with her, and now both cant exist separately without thier atoms flying apart.
