While I appreciate her having a more accurate appearance, I dislike how they portrayed her parents as abusive and how they made her seem like she was just getting strung along during her journey. Even though she didn't have many personal desires (beyond disliking taxes), she was a very confident girl who was always sure of what she had to do.
Jeanne is also an intelligent girl! Just because she was illiterate doesn't mean she's dumb! She just never had the opportunity to learn while she was a regular peasant girl, and she started learning how to read and write because being illiterate was embarrassing!
