The first book george wanted to right grew to five books since Dany has still not invaded Westeros. The ideas he had for her have no doubt been partially given to Aegons invasion, the golden company and their elephants were probably hers at one point to be a mirror to the Men of Rhun and the Mumikil to further show the Dany/Sauron thing.
Still crazy that he still hasn't written book 2 of his plan.

I wonder how often George wishes he could just rewrite the first book to make it click with his later ideas, which would also mean needing to rewrite the second book and the third etc, until hes bloated the new Winds even more. No wonder he's stuck and painted himself into a corner. Honestly Geoerge could just release a second edition of Dance with whatever narrative retcons he needs to make winds come more easily
