It's not even that contentious or unbelievable. It's what it is. It makes a lot of sense. It turns out we do in fact learn like babies learn, but as adults we try to add in all of this extra shit that hinders us and so it makes it seem as there's a critical period™. It turns out there isn't one. Little kids just don't do anything to fuck up the acquisition like adults seem to do compulsively and are even encouraged to do via teachers and books. ALG solves all of it.
