This is why if Sonic is going to be written with the freedom fighters, restoration, resistance, any group, in the future, he needs to be like Zero in Mega Man Zero.
He isn't formally affiliated, at most he does specific short-scale missions like rescue operations or bomb disfusings, etc for them for fun since he's bored.
