It's honestly not harmful for the board at all. These threads are always civil, and they remain on topic without any "this game is great, your favorite one sucks" kind of attitude that's so prevalent on modern /vr/.
These threads also never have any of the other usual modern /vr/ issues, no baiting with shit like console wars or version/port wars. These threads are almost always focusing on JP games as they are the most numerous, and anons just exchange opinions on the different games, everybody has different favorites, some like the sidescroll Sega one, some like the top view NES and SNES ones, some like the park sim games for PC and GBA. Everyone just gather and talk Crichton ludo, and that's honestly an achievement for 2025 /vr/.
Also, outside of JP, it was thanks to these threads that I learned about an old game Crichton himself worked on, that was based on Congo, the novel, before the movie existed, called Amazon, with a parrot instead of a gorilla.
I was laughing in a hearty way when I started looking at how a thread that seemed random and joke-like actually had a real connection to retro games, and how Crichtoncore is, well, real.
