Congo The Movie: The Lost City of Zinj, a Sega Saturn exclusive
It's based on the 1995 film Congo, which is based on the 1980 Michael Crichton novel of the same name

It was one of those games that were better suited for a rental. Like most western licensed titles.
The presentation is cool, and most importantly you can play as a fucking Raptor from the movie. It didn't matter that it controlled like shit, or that the level design was the worst kind of western maze+blind jump design, you played as a fucking Raptor on your Sega quickly after having watched the movie. You wandered around, enjoyed the atmosphere and the fact you were playing a JP game. Then you kept losing, played from the beginning again, etc. And then you returned it.

the worst part is no time to write down passwords. it just scrolls and starts the next level. you'd need to write fast with pen and paper already there, be playing through a VCR, or spend a dollar on a Polaroid

How come y'all never talk about the Jurassic Park RTS they made in the late 90's? I ehar it's like Zoo Tycoon with killer dinos (there's a download linkk on this page that let's you run it on Win 11/10/7 etc)

The 3D0 thread from the other day reminded me how mad I am that they took the first Jurassic Park game that actually had the capacity to play clips from the movie and made a completely forgettable nothingburger minigame collection out of it. Literally every iteration of Jurassic Park on every other console, janky though they may have been, at least understood the assignment.

If Jurassic Park 3DO is just the Genesis game but with better graphics / sound and a taste of movie footage between levels everyone goes apeshit for it, especially if it was the launch title as originally intended. What a wasted opportunity

Thoughts on Michael Crichton's Amazon?
It's kind of amazing that this is basically an adaptation of Congo, the original novel before the movie even existed, except with a parrot instead of a gorilla.
Eventually Congo got an adventure game for PC too.
