I'm not sure if an actual definitive ending that wrapped it all up was ever the plan. I think they wanted to always have some dangling plot threads so there was content for sequels.

Most game series don't intentionally end, they just stop wherever the money runs out. It's just that this was more of a problem for the LOK series specifically because it was so narrative-driven so no getting the next installment felt like missing the final chapter of a book or something

Yeah I've always been fine with people speedrunning for its own sake and just trying to get under a certain time but turning it into some competitive endeavor where the differences between runs are measured in fractions of seconds kind of smells fishy to me. Is there any standardization to this shit? And if not, how can we rely on any times to be accurate down to tenths or even hundredths of seconds? It feels like faux accuracy but everyone wants to treat these times like they're olympic records or something

The Return was so fucking good. It kind of ruined tv for me because now I know how good shows *can* but also that 99% of the medium will never reach this level. How am I supposed to watch slop now that I know what kino is?

It being a portable turbografx was actually preferable to it having its own library imo.

For one thing, if you were already a TG6 owner the library you already owned worked on your portable console. That's not a bad thing. And while there were some good handheld games being made at this time most of them were just gimped versions of console games. So a handheld that could play actual console games was going to give you an overall better library.

One of my many personal tragedies is that I was one of the twenty people in North America to have a TG16 but was too much of a poorfag to also afford the CD add-on or the Express.

I remember when Google had a strict policy of no ads and no suggested content. Links were arranged by popularity, and almost every website was run by 1 guy. The internet died some time in the mid 2000's. It just died. It's gone now, I wish it was destroyed forever.

Whatever movie they actually made probably couldn't be as kino as the one I've imagined in my head all these years but I still would have liked to see it. I imagine something between Excalibur and the Messenger

I've lost all enthusiasm for anything Disney but I just rewatched Aladdin the other day and it's a fucking great movie. It's an infantilized version of a old story dressed up with musical numbers and anachronisms to keep the plebs engaged but damned if there isn't still artistry at the root of it ll. The people who animated those movies were craftsmen with legit skills. I mean, it just looked *good.* They couldn't do it again now if they tried

The 3D0 thread from the other day reminded me how mad I am that they took the first Jurassic Park game that actually had the capacity to play clips from the movie and made a completely forgettable nothingburger minigame collection out of it. Literally every iteration of Jurassic Park on every other console, janky though they may have been, at least understood the assignment.

If Jurassic Park 3DO is just the Genesis game but with better graphics / sound and a taste of movie footage between levels everyone goes apeshit for it, especially if it was the launch title as originally intended. What a wasted opportunity
