Great movies. I don’t know why people took them so seriously and shat on them. Lone Ranger had some really great action shots and gun fights. WWW was pretty cheesy, but it was more of a comedy so yeah, it can be silly. Both have great re watch value.

And the sad thing is it was actually pretty good. Most people who eventually got around to seeing it after the fact out of morbid curiosity seem surprised by the fact that it's not some unintentionally hilarious camp classic but an actual fun movie that's like a solid B+. For some reason the plebs just didn't even give it a chance and once the opening weekend numbers were tepid it validated its status as terrible even though it wasn't. Yet all these people showed up for Fast and Furious 17 and Rise of Skywalker despite knowing what they were in for. If I were a marketing exec this kind of shit would drive me crazy

I rewatched this recently and can see why it failed. The plot was meandering, and the characters were just not that likeable. Will Smith was the only reason to see it, but unlike Arnold even though he was pretty big at the time even he couldn't really carry it. There were some good concepts and imagery here, but it bombed for a reason.

I still look back on it fondly though. I remember seeing it as a kid and then going to a Godfather's pizza right next door after the film, which had an arcade. Got to play Tekken with my buddies while waiting for 'zza, truly the best of times.

Based Will Smith hater. Long before his recent downfall I used to tell people he was the most overrated movie "star" of all time. Most of his films are shit and the ones that aren't would have been just as good if you replaced him.

Independence Day? An effects movie. The explosions were the star. The smith part could have just as easily been fucking Freddie Prinze Junior and it's the same result.

Men In Black? Another effects movie and Tommy Lee Jones is doing the heavy lifting.

The Fresh Prince? It's a fucking cornball sitcom. So you liked when you were a kid, so what. Kids have no standards. Everyone liked Saved by the Bell, too. Doesn't make Elizabeth Berkely or Dustin Diamond good actors. And that's what Will Smith is. He's Screech but because he filled a diversity checkbox and let some ((producer)) gape his asshole he got shilled as some box office draw.
