I had this happen to me. It was not the specific ship in the picture (MS Gabriella/Isabella/Amorella) but another ship (Cinderella) operated by Viking Line too. Before the ferry leaves I go to my cabin and take a piss, toilet machine flushes just fine. They are vacuum operated always on these ferries. Then I decided to take a big shit, after I'm done I press the button but nothing happens. I had to call the info desk and tell them the toilet machine is not working. Nobody came to my room, they contacted engineering and all of a sudden the toilet flushed apparently remotely after the ship had left. I think the flush didn't work before the main engines were all on, it was a big ship. It's not a Swedish ship, it's a Finnish ship. It goes to Stockholm and back but it isn't registered to Sweden.

The picture has a flaw, though, the toilet doesn't slosh. You can't flush it without closing the lid because the lid covers the flush button. Because it's a vacuum action toilet, when you press that button it gets super loud and it will suck the shit with ease. The cleaners are present only after the ship has arrived and people leave their cabins, otherwise there are none around.
