Egils Helmanis, the Mayor of the Latvian city of Ogre, was injured in Ukraine as a result of Russian shelling, Patriks Grīva, a spokesman for the municipality, told Latvijas Sabiedriskais medijs.

Patriks Grīva said that the chairman of the Ogre municipal council is currently on a business trip, delivering vehicles and other aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces together with Ukrainian supporters.

His health condition is stable, the council spokesman added.
