I find that Kantai Collection generally has better character designs than Azure Lane, although Azure Lane at least had some semblance of gameplay. Additionally, I find that anthropomorphized ship combat is generally less engaging than actual ship to ship engagements (which is one of the reasons why I preferred anime such as Haifuri conceptually to Kantai Collection or Azure lane even if Haifuri was not very good). You could certainly have a great deal to do with various sea states, weather conditions, ocean depths and various island and coastal terrain types, but I find that a person fighting, usually standing entirely on top of the ocean's surface, against machines or other people is not as engaging as fighting in a more conventional environment because the multi-crewed and grounded aspects of the actual ship combat are not present.

What I would prefer generally is something in which everyone on board a naval vessel becomes female through some happenstance, either as a condition of enlistment, some strange calamity or the unique circumstances of the particular environment in which they fight results in them becoming female.

I guess the reason why I do not find the scenario of turning into a shipgirl entirely appealing is that a shipgirl is already a physical anthropomorphized manifestation of something that was not the original form of the shipgirl. To transform from a man into a shipgirl is akin to transforming into something that already went through a transformation previously, and thus the appeal is somewhat disconnected from the appeal of genderswap to me.

If I had to make a decision though, here is what my offers would be:
