Hertz was in the EXACT same position - cancelled shares - and old shareholders got cash + equity. And in the case for BBBY there is A LOT MORE factors to hint that previous shareholders will be made whole, ESSPECIALLY Ryan Cohen (CEO of GameStops) close involvement to this day.
