Yes but military applications on the field of battle would make that way to fucking obvious and harder to point. With RF you get semi directional data sent to an object but everyone can pick it up. With laser, light or IR everyone can see. With RF you can EW.

With sound you are much more limited on range but for sounds that are hard to determine like infrasound you could send the data with no one noticing its being sent. You would still have to worry about encryption. With directional sound you could make it alot harder to capture this data but if your trying to send a drone swarm then it would be a pain in the ass.

All of this tech already exists and but its wide application to a market that might want it does not.
