The only government intervention that would unironically solve this issue, along with a myriad of others, is promoting eugenic measures and improving the gene pool in the first place. Whether soft: encouraging the fit to reproduce, moderate: sterilizing the unfit or straight up euthanizing the undesirables (either by force or, ideally, having them voluntarily drink the Kool-Aid themselves). There's really no need for you to suffer and, more importantly, have others needlessly suffer as well.
