RDR2 has the liveliest world, with tons of interesting things to discover, and the most sophisticated NPC simulation system (and animals too!), with countless random events happening around you at all times. I still remember getting out of the bar in Rhodes and seeing a guy beat his wife behind it. I didn't stop him, women need to know their place. He ended up beating her more violently and drowning her in a horse trough. He killed her right in front of me and told me to fuck off if I wanted to do something about it. I didn't, and he angrily left. A couple of days later, when I visited the town again, the sheriff was hanging him in front of a small crowd. Public hangings actually happen from time to time in the game. I remember they hanged a prostitute in Valentine too. But I was more interested in a stray cat sitting under the scaffold.
