The current German gov. wants no reminders that Germany used to be much bigger, also the Germans there were all expelled and the area was turned into a slavic shithole, so why would you want to accept some shithole you'd have to rebuild from basically nothing, especially if it's not even connected to your country? I think they tried to pawn it off to Poland too and got told to fuck off, but I might be misremembering.
