Oh, about the only time you might have to break from the story progression mode is around 40-50ish when you unlock your transformation. You'll know you're around there because the game will be telling you to go kill the giant yeti kings and you should have a mission in your quest side bar telling you to talk to nyle. Do the two missions he sends you on and then just unlock whatever transformation (dark knight or paladin) that you think looks cooler it functionally doesn't matter to any meaningful degree at this point in the game.
Otherwise you can literally just hit the big red button and hold ctrl through (or read if you want to) the story until you're at the current relevant content.
When you get to the season 3 content around 80-100 it will ask you about redeemers (you'll know when you get here), just proceed on all of them otherwise you'll have to clear the redeemers raids before you can move forward in the story. Come back and clear them later for the stats.
