Hmmm What I think is unique to me and my process is that I'm very patient and I don't get discouraged when working on a painting so no matter how long I think it will take, or what I need to learn to get it done, I just do it and don't get hung up on it and I also don't get hung up on what other things I could be doing instead. If a new idea pops in my head that I would rather work on, I just put that excitement toward finishing what I'm working on right now so that I can move on to that other idea later.
I think I developed good painting habits at a young age and have kept it up since then so I genuinely want to paint even when I don't want to and I like seeing the small progresses I make each day, no matter how insignificant. I focus on that rather than the bigger picture which I know will be formed in due time.
Think of it like working out, just enjoy the process of doing pushups and look forward to that feeling afterwards like you've gotten something done. Even if your arms look exactly the same tomorrow as they do today, if you keep it up, in a few months you'll notice progress. But focus on building the habit of enjoying those daily wins, those are what keep you going.
