I remember. I never saw this scene in my own playthrough. I only found out about it a few days after when Youtube recommended me video showcasing it. This right here destroyed my soul. I still credit this moment to being what really sealed Omori into my brain forever. That's probably an exaggeration, but it really felt like the straw that broke the camels back. It's why when anons visit here to tell us they recently beat the game, I always tell them how to see it for themselves if they can. Maybe it'll impact them, too.
They'll never recover from this. Aubrey's going to blame herself because she has no idea what's really been eating Basil up inside, so her bullying of him is the only answer to come to. Kel's never going to forgive himself for failing his friend like that. Hero's going to blame himself like he did with Mari's apparent suicide, and he already seems to be regressing back into a facade of being okay, not even letting himself cry. And Hero's absolutely going to blame himself for telling Sunny to go on ahead, letting him be all alone to kill himself possibly minutes later. Aubrey will probably blame herself, too. She was really awful to Sunny those first few days, and then his best friend killed himself because of her, and Sunny quietly joined him maybe minutes later. Kel might just blame himself for getting Sunny out of the house in the first place. And oh, poor Polly. This whole time she didn't want to force Basil to open up. Basil certainly thought he didn't deserve help or anyone to care about him, so he shut her out. She had no idea as to what his situation was, she probably didn't even know he was being bullied. She just hoped that if she tried to be there for him, or gave him some space, he'd open up on his own. And now her neglect of him let this happen. She's absolutely carrying the death of a child for the rest of her life.
