Orsgarn is a self-sufficient warrior scout form a far-away militaristic empire composed of many different conquered races and peoples, and was part of a large expedition to assess the state of the world and detect any major threats that could eventually become a problem for his homeland.
He was separated from his band while assigned to hunting duties, due to being snatched up by a giant bird of prey that took him many miles away from the coast. He eventually got free when another rival giant bird attacked the first one during a storm, and thus was swept away at sea, waking up on this island near the shipwreck.
He wants more than anything to return home to his wife and children, but knows that he will be labeled as a deserter and hanged for treason if he was discovered to be alive despite the circumstances. It would damn his family along with him, so he must suffer permanent exile on this blasted island instead.
