If anything, i would say that the Snyder's DC movies were too derivative of the DCAU cartoons, which is bad. People say they loved these cartoons, but they can barely remember most of the episodes, and some of the stories in the cartoons were really... inspired.

Superman cartoon literally ended with some important characters dying or betraying Superman (rightfully so), and Superman feeling dejected after he helped Darkseid taker over the world, because he was mind controlled (and raped).
