DK's new design is obviously a Miyamoto input. He is getting old so I get it that he wants to leave with DK looking the closest possible to his vision, but he kinda underestimated the influence the DKC games had. Koizumi getting to produce the biggest DK game ever it's probably as good as it gets for us country fans.
