I think most of the characters I like were the ones from the older book series (Jodah, Urza, Yawgmoth, Gerrard, Chainer, Toshiro, Argus Kos, etc.) and I kind of haven't felt any real charisma or presence from any of the web serialization or comic characters let alone from the cards themselves. A lack of flavor text quotes as more cares get clogged with rules text certainly doesn't help the situation either.
