To be fair, that grenade launcher is pretty nice on the first desert area with the infinitely respawning spiders. It kills them in one hit and can kill two of them at once if they're grouped together close enough. It just doesn't scale after that. But frankly it's all about aesthetics. If you want to carry a single load grenade launcher, take it.

They're pretty cool, but the game favors exploration too much and most quad legs can't really jump that high. Maybe if you don't mind doing a second run of a place to clean up any drops you couldn't reach.
