is this game short? how good it is? the game seem empty. what would make the game better? what do you lile and dislike in this game?
>>715888404 (OP)Very badly balanced guns, it doesn't tell you at all how to get more skill points, it doesn't take any of the quality of life features from armored core like the beeping to let you know there's a strong attack coming to dodge.
about to play this, what should I know?
It's a big empty game and it's great. It's fairly long, has a lot of levels and bosses and items. Probably the only thing after patches that I'd complain about is the balance, there's very obvious works/does not work weapon options, but there's at least one great gun of every sort. Except maybe grenade launchers.
Basically they made Armored Souls and it turned out to be a great idea, with all the negative and positive traits of those two sorts of games.
>>715888404 (OP)Helicopter is literally impossibe to beat, all the guns are absolute trash
>>715888404 (OP)>is this game short?Pretty long for the price and especially for an AC-like.
>how good it is?Generally good, and for some (me) it's basically a dream game in concept, so it's nice that it was done well the first time.
>the game seem emptyThat's by design/budget.
>what would make the game better?Better balancing and better akimbo (I just want dual handguns in one slot). Some refinement here and there. Maybe more part slots for extra autism. Once I get some free time I might try and see if I can just mod it myself for what I want to see in it, but I'll have no idea what I'll be doing and will probably fail miserably.
Was totally expecting a part rebalance alongside the DLC but oh well. Maybe later.
>>715889198Casul. I beat it with a sword.
>>715888404 (OP)It was a pleasant surprise and one of my favorite new games of the year so far. I got nearly 60 hours into it so it definitely has some content. It doesn't take that long to beat it but you can get some good time in it with making load-outs and taking your time to explore thoroughly.
>>715890594there's a dlc?!
>>715891328More like a free update. The crossover parts.
>>715891570ok thanks. I have the game on my wishlist but won't buy it now because I have mixed feeling about the game
>>715888404 (OP)I'm going through it slowly because of work and other responsibilities and I'm loving it. Just beat the Arboreal Nest and next I'm going to the Fault I think.
It's a lot of fun. I love the gun & robot part variety there is, there's something for everyone out there. It also gets big bonus points for me because it allowed me to make my robot girl chubby; very few games let you do that.
>>715888918Nothing really, go in blind.
The only thing you might want to know because it's gonna be tough to find out otherwise is that there's a body option with big ole doll joints, you unlock it by finding a very well hidden secret in the first level.
>>715889198Changing from thermal guns to a kinetic one did the trick for me. It's still the hardest boss I've fought so far bar none but with a little patience and some crafty use of resources it's doable. Also remember to use your consumables; the throwing knives fuck it up if you get close enough.
>>715888918Make sure you give the starving loli a cookie (supplement) in the first area. Shes moves to the hub and becomes the main merchant. Also she's cute.

>>715894268didn't know it was made by nitro+ , nice
>>715894268No, they should make Dolls Nest 2.
>>715888918Make sure to revisit those mysteriously open, yet empty areas after defeating their respective bosses.
>>715888823They released a balance patch at some point, did anyone check if it improved the weaker guns?
>Shit universal ammo system
>Shit level design
>Boring enemy design
It only appeals to really desperate mech fans.
>>715897502The level design was good, the ammo system itself was fine but the balancing needed work, and the enemy design was fine. More enemy types would've been better obviously but it's a low budget game so it's understandable that they had make a lot of variants of the basic types. It merged AC game-play with a Demons Souls style hub and exploration and I thought the result were very enjoyable.
>>715898767The twins have four arms? Never noticed that, what the fuck
It's a good game if it specifically appeals to you. If you're a fan of Demon's Souls, Armored Core, Blame! and cute girls, you'll probably like the game. If not then you probably won't really "get it."
Is there an NG+ feature and is it worth using? I think I'm pretty close to the end of the game but I don't want it to be over yet.

>>715899114yes there's NG+. it'll help you get the achievement for collecting all the weapons if nothing else.
>>715888404 (OP)Good game. It's about 20 hours long for one playthrough.
>>715897392I think they did but there's still a lot of useless guns. But the game has so many weapons that it was bound to happen.
OP here, why everyone is saying this game is like a soulslike game? what makes it a soulslike game?
>>715898767>>715899151Doesn't Jesus also have 4 arms?
>>715899392And the all weapons achievement needs NG++.
>>715899515It takes heavy inspiration from Demon's Souls and has the same structure. With a level up hub and then your pick of a few levels that you advance down along separate paths. And a bunch of NPCs that move around and have fairly obscure quests.
>>715899151In my defence the decayed broodchamber is very dark and my eyesight is not good at all.
>>715900038I think it even says "mechsmith twins" or something but I might not be remembering right.
>>715900358It does say that, yes. In fact, the text tooltip obscures their 'lower' pair of arms so I'm blaming it on that now.
>>715895403I think they should do enhanced console ports and a DLC for PC.
>>715900941That would be cool, I'd buy the game again on consoles if they did that.
>>715902278>you you you youI love how I posted every one of those.
>>715888404 (OP)According to my playtime after beating the final boss, I played for 33 hours, much of which is me fucking around to try to find secrets, the game is full of hidden places, the game does seem a bit empty in some areas, but it has plenty of action, some places are full of enemies too.
The only thing I disliked about it is how utterly useless rear weapons are and that the NPC quests are structured like dark souls, in which NPCs will disappear or die unless you do some cryptic shit, the gameplay is fun, fast and fluid.
I recommend it specially if you like mecha games, since it is armored core but with anime girls basically.
>>715889198Helicopter is the balteus equivalent of this game, a nice casual filter and ironically the hardest boss in the game.
>>715904587>The only thing I disliked about it is how utterly useless rear weapons areMan, it's unfortunate. I've only been able to make effective use of one, the first artillery cannon you get and it's mostly to finish off mobs while I'm left reloading. Other than that there are a lot of super sick weapons that either leave you open for getting raped on the spot, hit like a wet noodle while costing half your ammo, or both.
>>715906878I used the big wing missile launchers simply because they looked cool. Not that strong but cheap at least and nymphs have trouble dodging them.
>>715906878yeah this kills me so much
>find what amounts to a fucking Metal Gear Nuke Launcher>fuck yeah>extreme fire and reload time>locks you into place for several seconds to fire>takes ages to hit target>does roughly 2.5 the damage of the first cannon you findabsolutely atrocious balancing and it's infuriating

>>715909626Story is very sparse but it does feature suffering.
>>715909626Surprisingly positive story - you can actually restart your race. Not humans since they are long dead but still.
>>715909626The Souls style storytelling obsucates everything that went down. You have to do the legwork yourself by reading all the descriptions.
>>715892279what is considered "the first level"? I played the demo up to where it ends with the tank boss's intro, is that the whole first level?
Music is amazing, but I lost interest when I started fighting other dolls. l liked it more when you were changing weapons and builds to deal with different threats rather than just being sonic fast to keep up. For me at least I think they should have focused more on level design and gimmicks, like the pitch black section where you need to launch lights around.

>>715910320Pretty much. From there you go to the hub area and that opens up 3 "archstones" you can go into.
>>715910435I actually bought the OST since I liked it so much, there's definitely some good tracks on there.
>>715910453so the doll joints are BEFORE the tank?
>>715888404 (OP)>is this game short? The length is decent. For an indie project I expected less playtime
>how good it is?It's rough around the edges but it's committed to its style and delivers on it better than most
>the game seem empty. what would make the game better? The game isn't empty. What would make it better is adjustments to the targeting system. Manually lining up shots should be more reliable before reaching full target lock-on and full target lock should miss less often. I'm playing with one of the highest computing stat headgears in the game and it still bothers me how long it takes to take down moving enemies
>what do you lile and dislike in this game?I like the overall style of the game, it portrays an internally consistent dark scifi world in which it makes sense for weaponized anime girls to roam an endless structure in search for relics. Searching levels for hidden paths and secret objects is fun as well.
What I dislike is the targeting system as mentioned above
>>715909360That one's super cool but I was very disappointed when it couldn't track normal mobs properly and having to stand still while shooting meant you got destroyed instantly. I'll give it a whirl whenever I do have to fight another nymph.

>>715912439Demon'sBlameCore.
Quite the chimera, but it works.
If by Doll you mean Seedlings like the player character, only Nehma can make them. Which caused... issues during the game's background events.
>>715912439nah, it's nowhere near as bleak or mind-boggling in scale as Blame! that being said, it is still quite bleak and enormous.
>>715912354the other characters have problems of their own. promises made, creeds they're following, quests being undertaken; things like that. they pretty much don't give a damn about Nehma trying to regain control.
>>715911593You might be thinking of a different one, the wing missiles let you keep moving while shooting them. You need a lot of space to your left or right side for them to "hook" correctly so they're bad in tight spaces. It just feels good firing off a big barrage of them since each individual shot is very cheap.

Rate my doll
She's a simple gunner type, high mobility, effective at short-medium range, slow firing but high damage per shot, good armor piercing and targeting, bubble shield to remain aggressive in high danger situations. Her only weakness is low survivability but I consider that a skill issue

I've not played the game after the weapon rebalance patch, but I doubt they buffed the grenade launcher enough to make it worth it.
>>715913567This is a cool one.
>>715913525I'm realizing I would like this game more if it was just robots instead of having weird human bodies grafted onto them.
I didn't play that much mecha games so I don't know if what I'm about to say is wrong or true; why they don't do plasma swords that can dismember robots legs or arms when you use your sword? so for example you use your sword to cut a wing from the enenmy robot and on this wing there was a lets say a gun so now the robots can't use that gun, would be cool
>>715913732I love how this one looks, but that gun's kinda shit, sadly.

>>715913773The game you're looking for is called The Surge.
>>715913767Not the biggest fan of Mecha Musume myself but I got over it and enjoyed the game. It helps that you're mostly looking at your character from the back.
>>715913773Pretty sure Doll's Nest doesn't do that, but I can think of an old RTS that did. You could also grab dropped limbs and attach them to your own units.
>>715914000>could also grab dropped limbs and attach themthats cool, thanks
I really like this design. Probably one of two I ever made with asymmetric rear weapons.
I properly listened to the main menu theme for the first time the other day instead of just immediately clicking "Continue". GodDAMN that song goes HARD.
>>715913773Metal Bringer does that, each part has its own individual health bar separate from the main health bar.
>>715913767there are like 0 mecha musume games so kindly fuck off
Now this design I'm very proud of. Looks sick and the weapon even shoots lightning, going well with the Raijin-like look.
>>715914137Yeah, that one's cool but it actually wasn't that functional. The Apple rifle is kinda mediocre, even if it looks cool. I think it's meant to have some sort of piercing effect, but that's not actually something that useful overall.

I gave her less to wear, dulled the green and unequipped the pointless grenade launcher
Thanks for your feedback
>>715913567>Why does she wear the mask? She's a big girl. I wear it for the stats it has the highest target area and computing stats for headsets that match my main weapon's range. It's also lightweight and EP efficient, really nice gear for mid-range shooting
Here's a fun design. Fat chicken loaded with the heaviest rear weapons I could carry.
It kinda sucked. The minigun saved the day but only because the boss I fought with it was static.
>>715914438After I'm done playing around with my super-lightweight gunner doll I want to try a heavy weapons build
What's your opinion on quad legs?
>>715914335That's the one, the name of the track is "Reverse Babel", though. Can't believe I slept on it for so long.
My enjoyment of the game increased drastically after running the mod that removes your turning speed limit when using a mouse.
Here's my wiiiiiiiide girl. she hits like a noodle and can take about the same amount of punishment as a noodle can too.
>>715914407To be fair, that grenade launcher is pretty nice on the first desert area with the infinitely respawning spiders. It kills them in one hit and can kill two of them at once if they're grouped together close enough. It just doesn't scale after that. But frankly it's all about aesthetics. If you want to carry a single load grenade launcher, take it.
>>715914523They're pretty cool, but the game favors exploration too much and most quad legs can't really jump that high. Maybe if you don't mind doing a second run of a place to clean up any drops you couldn't reach.
Another asymmetric design. Not the best angle but the simple look carries a quiet dignity.
It could also be the look of a mook.
Best for last, my all terrain, all purposes preset.
Classy look, ready for combat. Great guns, both rear and main ones. It just looks cool as fuck to me.
>place you can see in the distance is a later part of the level

>>715914995And here's a look from behind (Ignore the different weapon loadout).
I love how the backpack fits with the entire design, and even better, it actually has a pretty decent armor.
If you look at the stats at
>>715914995 you can see it has over 10k defense, against both physical and energy. It's jump capability is at almost 10k, more than enough to reach anywhere in the game, it has great handling and it's ground speed caps at 89kmph, really goddamn fast. And the fact it reaches it's weight limit perfectly just makes it so elegant. Truly my magnus opus.
Nevermind the fact it says it's overlimit, it's not.
>>715915425And I forgot my image again...

iirc, that's the top layer, which has a habit of nickel & diming you with those flying bots that are hardly worth killing. Bring a battle rifle for anything you can't just run past.
>>715915674If you spend like 5 minutes farming all the enemies near the very first respawn tree you'll end up with a heap of healing items. I find that every 2nd enemy you kill usually drops a healing item.

The only genuinely useless ones are the ones that require you to stop to use them. I don't know why they didn't also copy how classic AC handles these weapons so you can use them on the move with quad/tank legs.
The artillery cannon was really broken but they nerfed it pretty hard so it's not completely over-centralizing now.
