This. The timeline makes perfect sense if you ignore the whole "Cranky is the original DK" thing because this just becomes a regular Odyssey prequel. The DKC games become about young DK on his island home, with the arcade games becoming about an older DK who has a kid of his own (DK Jr.) and goes to the big city. Bananza, then, takes place between them, no time/age manipulation needed.
