I played Nunatak today. My first thought when I saw the game was "this would cost half as much if the plastic pieces were just cardboard tiles" and my last thought after playing it was "the box would be a fourth the size if the plastic pieces were just cardboard tiles".
Not much else to say about it. The set collection drafting aspect was fine, if a bit rigid. The area control aspect was less important than I was expecting but it helped to make the drafting decisions less trivial. I would play it again but I don't think I would buy it.
Reflecting on it now, my only additional thought is "if it were just cardboard tiles the tiles could be smaller and the game wouldn't be a table hog".
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
