>Are Scenarios really that important? How do I edit them? What's the correct way to have multiple Scenarios with the same character card for different stories?
It depends on what you mean by "scenarios."
If you mean this field:
https://files.catbox.moe/za1npj.PNG
Then no, it's not that important.
First, you need to understand that none of those fields do anything special on their own.
They just send information to the AI in the order defined by your preset (see picrel).
So in my image, for example, it will just send:
Scenario: {{what you typed}}
...before sending your current chat discussion.
This can help guide the AI a bit, and you could write something here if all the greetings in your card share a common setting. But the field itself is optional.
Nowadays, the main fields used are Description and Greetings.
For characters, the description should include things true across all situations: appearance, mindset, personality, etc.
If your bot has a gimmick, that can also go there.
To guide the AI into a scenario or situation, the most effective tool is the greeting.
Each card can have one or more greetings.
Since you played Rarity >>42257538, for example:
This Rarity has 4 greetings/starting situations:
https://mlpchag.neocities.org/view?card=Ponyo/Rarity.png
This Rarity has 3, and her description is different since she's an alt version:
https://mlpchag.neocities.org/view?card=Anonymous/Succubus%20Rarity.png
Greetings are important because they:
- Set up the initial situation
- Can influence the writing style of the AI (models generally try to mimic the context style)
In general, a good description plus one or more greetings, depending on what situations you want to play out, is enough. You usually won't need any other fields.
Message examples might help if your pony speaks in a unique way or has a specific accent.
But often, good dialogue in the greeting is enough.
>Say I want a SFW chat and a separate NSFW chat for the same character. Is it better to duplicate the card, having one version for each?
These days, it's easy to go NSFW with a bot that appears SFW at first.
If you create a bot with explicit NSFW content in the description, it's easier to go NSFW right away, but it might be harder to keep things comfy or SFW afterward.
The model will see sexual context and push toward it even if you're aiming for something soft.
Personally, I just create different chats with the same bot for SFW and NSFW and switch between them using this:

If you're doing SFW, get horny, do NSFW, and then want to go back to SFW, you can fork your chat:
https://files.catbox.moe/ef6mga.PNG
That will keep a copy of your current chat and also create one where you return to the previous point.
