I'll admit, Mario kart world's whole feeling would have been ruined with some 3rd party outlandish addition since the whole game's just been a love letter to Mario's history and re-style.
If it was done in MK8 it wouldn't feel as forced since we already have a bunch of other series characters and tracks being implemented (albeit still nintendo), but I don't really care it didn't happen there either.
