There's plenly of those but they're often unimpressive and amateurish. Most popular RPGMaker games being basically non-games is just a consequence of the engine being used by non-devs, aka artists and writers, to turn their stories into a simple interactive media. I'd imagine people who wanted to be serious about gamedev would've chosen a more powerful engine.

And that reminds me, there's an interesting document by thecatamites, creator of Space Funeral, reminiscing his time on rpgmaker forums and their culture back in 00s, done in his usual humorous style.
