The stereotypical high-fantasy paladin would be heavy armor, two handed or one handed+shield, and restoration. Lay on Hands is restoration magic. You could represent Smite with destruction magic, and if memory serves the tes class system had a resto, destro, heavy armor guy that looked like a paladin.

eso's templar class is heavily inspired by the paladin trope, and it uses both resto and destro magic extensively.
