>~50 micro-Legions
There's 50 clans? I thought they were still the same, just tens thousand+ marines strong each
I do like that Ferrus allows infighting, assassinations and politicking among his legion, as long it doesn't get in the way of the Crusade, as it keeps them on their toes. Ork-like, it ensured the klanz were led by the deadliest warlords possible
>asking for help is shameful to the point of ritual bionic suicide via Immortals
Yes, but asking for help isn't the only way to have multiple clans in the same order. It could be the Primarch's order. It could be that some clan has demanded they are included in the order of battle because duty compels then, or because a warlord has forced his way in. It could be that is isn't help, but the clanhead is cashing in a favour to another, or that a warlord calculates fighting an easy war on someone's behalf can be a way to buy favour for a time of need in some future, more difficult fight
The Iron Hands only became cold and machine-like because Ferrus goaded their ruthlessness to the point of inhumanity
It's like if politicians weren't old and fat, but superhumanly deadly AND twice as heartless
