Just don't use cans: I handbrush vallejo mecha varnish on my kits and it looks great.
It's also extremely cheap compared to cans, a single 200 ml bottle will last you a lifetime

Acrysion is great and is excellent for hand painting, I'd also recommend you use the appropriate thinner for them.
Acrysion metallics are also very good, probably the best acrylics ones out there.
