The goal is capturing people who just "install Linux" with all the default options (which is inevitably going to hand them a GNOME + Wayland DE) so that GNOME will have the clout and userbase that instead of fixing their software they can file tickets on OTHER projects that you can't do what you're doing because you're breaking Wayland and wouldn't it be a shame if our huge userbase all couldn't run your project and kept opening these stupid tickets on it? You may as well switch to GNOMELand personally and test on GNOME at every step because that's the only way to make us stop
What has been done to open source by groups I don't understand for reasons I can only speculate? Maybe 10 years from now you'll need a GNOME Account with a phone number to access web services through GNOMEnet and only signed software can be run on GNOME, like what else could they be planning?
