I've always thought it was strange how radical a divergence other m's samus was from previous games. This whole time, it was Sakamoto deliberately forcing his own interpretation onto people? That's why other m was so aggressively shit?

After playing a bunch of other Metroidvanias, I've realized that I don't actually like Metroid games much as a genre.

>New games refuse to give you fully-powered Space Jump & Screw Attack without some debuff or caveat
>Upgrades are always static, can't be turned off or customised
>No equips ever, no interesting loadouts or choices to be made
>Staunchly an action genre with zero RPG elements
>Games NEVER have exploration and nonlinearity as their number one priority, and the idea of a Metroid game being a flagship title of the Metroidvania genre is a joke (I hate this one)
>Series is made by idiots who have no interest in just making a good game like Super, they're always chasing gimmicks
Sakamoto left the serious to rot for 15 years because he couldn't get his EMMI gimmick to work properly yet. Series could be so much more than it is today without that fucking retard chimp at the wheel.
